GOLDEN FQ & ENTRY Purchase

50 Golden Years Quilt Challenge Rules

In celebration of 50 years (1977–2027), we invite you to create a quilt that honors the golden threads of time, memory, and creativity!

Your entry will travel to Quilt Shows throughout Utah (and possibly farther) during 2027, highlighting the beauty of quilting and joy it brings in our lives.

Challenge Requirements

1. Theme: 50 Golden Years Challenge

2. Size Guidelines: Finished quilts must measure no smaller than 24" x 24" and no larger than 36" x 36" (measured edge to edge, excluding binding).

3. Two people may work on each quilt to create, piece, quilt and bind the quilts. For example, one person creates and makes top, a second person quilts it.

4. Required Fabric Use: The gold metallic fabric included in the kit must be easily visibly used on the front (face) of the quilt, not just the binding. The amount and placement are up to you, but it must be clearly incorporated as part of your design.

5.  Kit Purchase: The kit with fabric is available for purchase at the registration desk at Quilt Fest or through the website storefront (shipping cost will be added).  The cost is $15 and includes entry into the Challenge.  The Registration Code that is included MUST be used at entry to show that you have paid your entry fee.  Hold on to the code.

5. Construction: Quilts must be quilted (hand, machine, or both) and finished with binding or a clean edge. It is to include a front, batting and backing.

6. Labeling: A label must be attached to the back of the quilt including:
- Your full name
- Quilt title
- Contact information

7. Deadline: December 5, 2026

8. Submission Instructions: You may bring your entry to Quilt Fest 2026 for drop-off.  Otherwise watch for other drop-off locations to be announced in the Beeline.

9. Viewer’s Choice Awards will be given at the 2027 Quilt Fest for the top 3 quilts with the highest number of votes.

10. When submitting the entry, you need to give permission for your quilt to travel, be photographed and to be included in UQG publications.  Credit will be given.
