332  Sashiko Japanese Folk Art Embroidery – Shelley Koehler

Description: Sashiko is a striking traditional Japanese embroidery style which is relaxing, inexpensive and easy to master.  You will learn about its origin and how to draft out and stitch the grid-based designs.  After practicing the unique stitching style, we will make 6 blocks which can be sewn into coasters, pin cushions, quilt blocks, etc.  Come learn this time honored art form and see how it could bring something new to your quilting projects!

Machine required for this class:  No

Pattern Required: Yes, $4 to be paid to the instructor

Kit Required:  Yes, $10 to be paid to the instructor

Supply List: BSK, Marking kits consisting of a transparent rule 2” x 12”, A square quilters ruler (4x4, 6x6 etc), White marking tools, such as heat or air erasable marker, quilters chalk pencil        

Kit: Fabrics for stitching practice and blocks,  Sashiko needle,  Sashiko thread, Sashiko palm thimble
