Hand Quilter Jerry Dunbar

Jerry was born and raised in SW Louisiana, Cajun Country, where he watched his great grandmothers, grandmothers, and great aunts participate in Quilting Bees. This sparked an interest in quilt making and in 1982, after inheriting his grandmother's 1951 Singer sewing machine, he pieced his first quilt.

Jerry's mom taught him the basic skills of hand quilting. Taking his first and only class in 1986, new techniques, ideas of design and color began to work their way into his quilting.

Still hand quilting, Jerry feels he is continuing the craft and traditions of his relatives.

Jerry's quilts have won Best of Show for Use of Color and Design and Hand Quilting at the AQF Festival of Quilts and also has quilts in the juried Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum. Two newer quilts will hang in the National Men's Quilt Show in January, 2026.

Ina Calder

I come from a family of quilters but really began quilting in earnest when my son got married about 13 years ago and I wanted to give he and his wife a quilt for their wedding.  I enjoyed it so much that I went on to take many classes and attend many retreats. After a few years I decided to share my love of quilting, and I opened a quilt and fabric shop with Debbie Woodworth.  And InDe'B Quilt Shop was born!

Marsha Chappell

Marsha was raised in Loa UT but has lived in various other states. Returning to her home roots has provided many opportunities to serve within the community. She grew up with a mother and grandmother who were beautiful hand quilters but didn’t start her own quilting journey until 1985 while living in Cheyenne WY. Many classes, working in quilt shops and a desire to “do more” led to becoming a quilt shop owner in Las Vegas. Retirement has brought those desired hours to ‘just sew’ and create while trying to finish up those UFOs. Her four children live in the four corners of the United States. She has 11 grandchildren who are the highlight of her life. She enjoys designing mystery patterns and teaching classes. Marsha has been a contributor to Utah Quilt Fest through serving on Quilt Fest Boards and teaching classes.

304 - Obsession and

Marian Fowden

I've lived in Utah for all but 2 years of my life. My mother taught me to embroider flour-sack dish towels when I was in 1st grade. I learned to sew and knit to make clothes for my Barbies and troll dolls. Sewing, knit and crochet, weaving, tatting, silk ribbon embroidery, smocking, spinning- if it involves a needle, I will give it a try. When a hand injury put a stop to my knitting and crochet 7 years ago, I found needle felting and fell in love. Flat or sculptural, realism or fantasy - it has so many uses and endless possibilities. It's fun to teach and see their surprise when people find out how easy it is.

She has been longarm quilting for more than 12 years and began designing quilt patterns 7 years ago, combining her love of teaching with her passion for quilt design. Alyssa believes quilting should be both creative and approachable.  She loves helping quilters turn fabric into something beautiful while building confidence along the way. Her main passions are sewing, quilting, doll making, and embroidery. When Shelley discovered Sashiko a few years ago, she was hooked. She decided to develop classes for Quilt Fest and other venues.
